This coffee is a fantastic representation of great quality lot from Nicaragua. Soft malic acidity and a juicy mouthfeel lend themselves perfectly to the notes of apple and raspberry, giving the impression of a crisp, clear apple juice, before the walnut finish rounds out the flavour.
Finca San Ramon sits in the Dipilto mountain range, a nature reserve located close to the border with Honduras. The owner, Donald Efrain Roque is dedicated to producing high quality coffee, just like his grandfather and father’s footsteps, Donald Efrain is. For his entire life, he has worked with coffee and over this time he has acquired a very special affection and passion for it.
In 2006, Donald Efrain learned about the Cup of Excellence competition (COE) and decided to participate in this contest to see how much potential his coffee had. After performing well, he became more motivated than ever to improve the quality of his coffee, participating again in COE in 2009 and 2011, achieving great results.
For him, the biggest challenge when shifting his farm’s production towards speciality coffee was having to train and educate his workers to change their traditional harvesting and processing practices. Now he consistently seeks to improve and to become a better farmer.
