This coffee has been donated to us by Mercanta, one of our green suppliers – who were keen to help us create a special release coffee to support frontline workers. We will be donating a bag of coffee to the NHS for every one purchased.
This 100% Obatá Honey lot is the result of hard work and dedication by various smallholder members of Coope Victoria, Costa Rica’s very first cooperative. Based in the Western Central Valley, farms benefit from high altitudes of over 1200 metres above sea level, with volcanic soils rich with minerals. Cherry selection for this lot is very important, with only ripe red cherries making the cut. These are then pulped, some mucilage is removed, and then the coffee (with around 50% of mucilage still attached) is pre-dried on patios for up to 24 hours, with drying finished in mechanical dryers. This produces a beautifully sweet and complex coffee on the palate.
